Accelerate your mixing

Accelerate your mixingMuch like any audio console, the System 5 features channel strips and a center section for master facilities. However, you can configure the surface modules for any audio post or music mixing application. No audio flows through the control surface, as the audio electronics are housed remotely, enabling you to customize your I/O and place and rearrange modules in any order. Each module is self-contained with a high-speed Ethernet connection for responsive control.

You also get constant visual feedback in everything you do, as each channel features stereo LED metering next to each fader, plus high-resolution multi-format TFT screens to view metering, sources, channels, auxes, groups, and gain reduction. The master module provides you with multiformat metering for the main busses and monitors, while the submaster module offers eight additional programmable meter displays, which you can customize and save as presets.

Each channel strip includes a multiformat, motorized fader and eight touch-sensitive knobs for EQ, filter, compressor, expander/gate, Aux sends, and pan control. If you’re using the EUCON Hybrid option, you can also use the faders and knobs to control DAW functions, including adjusting TDM, VST, and Audio Units plug-in parameters. Read more

Gain custom control
Bring what’s important closer to you. With Layouts, you can quickly access what you need by saving the position of sources on the surface at any given time for later recall. Always have the most important sources within easy reach by saving different Layouts—whether you want to store/recall settings across the entire desk or only within certain strips. And with Control Groups, you can control any number of faders from a single strip

Jump to different mix states
Freely experiment without fear of commitment, or isolate specific channels for easier fine-tuning. With SnapShot Recall, you can store all current console settings as a SnapShot for recall at any time, making it easy to jump to any past mixing state of one or multiple channels. You can choose and later edit the parameters in any given SnapShot—from saving every setting across all channels, a single channel, or maybe just the EQ or pan settings on a single channel—and name them for easy identification. You can save up to 240 SnapShots per Title (project), all of which will be accessible whenever you reload that Title.

Automate for precision
As System 5 is a fully digital console, it’s designed with Total Automation for high-precision mixing. You can dynamically automate changes to almost every parameter on the console to time code, including volumes, EQ, pans, Aux sends, dynamics, processor in/out, and fader on/off. With motorized, touch-sensitive controls, you can write changes the minute you touch a fader or knob, with all automation moves displayed on the unique illuminated displays during playback, and automation statuses displayed on the dedicated LEDs. Each switch that can be automated has its own automation punch key. Use the dedicated automation keys in the center of the console to select objects for automation and the object status. You can write automation in small discrete sections to handle detailed post work, or as continuous moves throughout the length of your project.

Powered by DSP

TriggerSystem 5 is powered by the lightweight and compact DSP SuperCore—the system’s primary signal-processing engine and router. Comprised of a system board and up to eight plug-in SP662 DSP cards, the SuperCore gives you more than enough DSP horsepower, system functionality, and reliability to satisfy your most demanding music and post applications.

The SC263 Studio Computer runs eMix software, enabling you to easily set up and customize the system, manage files, and perform diagnostics. It also includes PatchNet, a powerful digital patching system that enables you to quickly route all console inputs and outputs—unlike a traditional patchbay, you can store and recall every single patch that you make Read more

Each System 5 channel features:

  • Two inputs, which may be fed from analog or digital sources (using appropriate converters)
  • Phase reverse
  • Gain trim
  • Delay (up to 2 seconds)
  • Insert send and return
  • 4-band fully parametric EQ
  • Two filters
  • Dynamics, including compressor/expander/gate with hysteresis, key input, and side chain filter
  • Touch-sensitive motorized fader
  • Multiformat panning to group and mix busses
  • Up to 32 mix busses, 24 group busses, and 16 Aux send busses
  • Solo button (APL, PFL, SIP)
  • Two direct outputs (pre-fader and post-fader)

If you connect a mic preamp to the channel, these additional controls are available (with the ML530 remote mic/line interface):

  • Input impedance—hi/lo
  • Phantom power
  • Hi-pass filter
  • Analog input gain

Take Control with EUCON

Take Control with EUCONThe EUCON Hybrid option for System 5 extends the control capabilities of the console—beyond its dedicated DSP Core—to the outside world, enabling you to bring audio tracks from multiple DAWs to the console surface for mixing. With the EUCON control protocol, you can take deep, tightly integrated tactile control of an application over high-speed Ethernet—Pro Tools 9, Logic Pro, Pyramix, Nuendo, Digital Performer, and other DAWs all directly support EUCON.

You can select, place, and control tracks on the System 5 surface from any DAW running the EUCON Client Application on your network. Position tracks anywhere you want on the surface. You can even place multiple tracks from separate DAWs, in any order on the surface, simultaneously next to System 5 DSP channels. You can then save these placements as Layouts for easy access and organization—for example, you can have one Layout for DSP channels, one for Pro Tools, and one with combinations from multiple DAWs. This greatly extends the capability of the console, enabling you to access DAW tracks that would otherwise be available only as traditional playback sources. With EUCON Hybrid, it’s now possible to have direct, high-speed access to any of these tracks, their plug-ins, and metering.

Connect to the world

TriggerRoute and patch audio using industry-standard MADI connectivity, a very stable and robust AES-sanctioned format that delivers up to 64 channels of digital audio (at 24-bit, 48 kHz) along a single coaxial cable. You can also customize your I/O to interface with analog gear and other digital formats, such as AES/EBU. Avid offers a full range of high-quality converters that can be configured in multichannel, 3RU 19” rack mounting cases, making it easy to scale the I/O to meet your needs now and in the future.
